The City Attorney is the legal advisor to the Benkelman City Council. The City Attorney also provides legal advice to City staff and other City Boards and Commissions.​

The City Attorney is responsible for:

• Drafting ordinances and resolutions

• Reviewing contracts

• Prosecuting municipal code violations
